On a recent grocery trip, I saw Meyer Lemons bagged and priced to move. Upon checking the produce quality, I decided that two dollars was worth a bowl full of experimenting with these orange colored lemons!?!
A friend saw them sitting on my kitchen counter and said, “I brought tangerines too.” They do look like tangerines in color but they are egg shaped and tarter like a lemon. Yet they are milder in flavor. They are believed to be a cross between a mandarin or orange and a lemon. In comparison to a lemon they are not only milder but their skin is smoother and they are less acidic.
One can substitute lemons for Meyer Lemons with any recipe, fresh juice, etc. Or you can simply slice Meyer Lemons to add to your water (the taste is milder than a lemon and more ‘orange’ citrus flavored). I (Litsa) like these Meyer Lemons in my water. One slice adds a touch of citrus flora flavor that I’ve enjoyed greatly. They are ‘Worth the Hunt’ like other unusual citrus fruits that were featured in on the blog earlier this year.
Have you tried something new lately?
