Several weeks ago, a friend asked me if I’ve tried ‘Kombucha’ but I had not until she shared hers with me. There were chunks in the bottom of the bottle so my first reaction was to shake. However the bottle’s label clearly states not to shake the bubbly, mix of Kombucha!
It was a refreshing drink of tea but it’s not just your normal brew—a tea with bacteria and yeast too. I would have to say that it’s not for everyone but I did enjoy the cold brew of Kombucha.
It’s a sort-of-sour, effervescent, and enlightening gingerade beverage that is low in sugar. I think it’ll pair well with the intense heat of the summer’s heat so I stocked up on a few bottles that were on clearance.
Kombucha is supposed to detox, pump up probiotics, and fix digestion. However, the literature on Kombucha says that the jury’s still out if the gingerade gives one such a health boost.
So have you tried Kombucha at your local farmers’ market or in a bottled variety like the one pictured above?
