It’s the beginning of June and we are starting to see some vegetables on our plants! It is always so exciting to see your hard work paying off!
The squash bugs showed up early this year. Luckily, I caught them early too. I will have to keep my eye out for more and use soapy water as needed to prevent more from returning. I also check the underside of the leaves every few days for squash bug eggs. They are little brown eggs that form near the stem on the underside of leaves.
I planted a ton of tomato plants. Most of them have flowers and small tomatoes forming. So far so good with the tomatoes- no bugs yet.
The bell pepper plants are doing very well too. The teeny tiny bell peppers are just so cute!
I have been picking sugar snap peas (my boys favorite) and the green beans should be ready for picking in the next week. The lettuce bolted– the weather has been really warm.
As far as the potato plants, we returned from our trip last weekend to find potato beetles. They are very easy to pick off the plant and luckily there were not too many of them. I just plucked them off the leaves and squished them and no sign of them since.
How is your garden growing?
