red bell pepper

We have grown bell peppers in our vegetable garden for the last few years. It takes awhile for bell peppers to mature and that is the reason that they are so costly in the store. The longer you leave the bell pepper on the plant the sweeter it will get! Yes, that green bell pepper will eventually turn into a yellow or red bell pepper!

We leave our bell peppers on the plant until they start to turn yellow, orange or red. It takes several weeks after the green bell pepper has fully grown for the pepper to turn yellow or red. It is something you need to be patient about! It will happen though.

If you currently have bell peppers in your garden, try leaving the green peppers in the plant for a few weeks to see what happens. I bet you will be pleased with a sweet red or yellow pepper in a few weeks!
