The goal of Thirsty Thursday is to find good and cheap wines for under $10. Today we are headed to France for Thirsty Thursday wine tasting!
This week I reviewed a wine just outside of the $10 range I shoot for. I participated in a WineTwits twitter party a couple of weeks ago for a virtual wine tasting. One of the wines I sampled was 2009 Chateau des Capitans Julienas. This is a red burgundy wine made from 100% Gamay grapes.
The nose revealed blackcurrent and a slight spice. The initial taste is warm but then turns to slight bitterness. This wine is full of tannins which means that it is more acidic. The lightness in the beginning and the burst of berry make it enjoyable though.
Julienas comes in around $15-$17 a bottle. It contains 14% alcohol.
I probably won’t be purchasing Julienas in the future just because I know that there are good red wines below the $10 range! I am thankful that WineTwits did provide wine for A Social Soiree though.
As always, make sure you drink responsibly.
Make sure you check out Kansas City Mamas to view the other Thirsty Thursday posts!
Do you have a suggestion for a good and cheap wine under $10? Please leave a comment and let me know!
