We’ve all heard the expression, “when it rains, it pours” but we NEVER want to find ourselves in this situation in our lives- at least not without rain boots & a raincoat!
At the Jackson household (since Christmas week), we’ve discovered that our main Nikon camera lens is not functioning, our upright freezer has quit (with a half full stock of fresh garden vegetables and rib-eye steaks completely ruined), our home’s furnace was corroded beyond repair, our tree maintenance cost double what expected (ALWAYS get estimates in writing for your protection!), and an influx of medical bills not covered by insurance are beginning to arrive! We are NOT allowing these circumstances to steal our joy in our lives. We are just reorganizing how we live to account for these unexpected “floods” that affect our daily living.
Our stockpiles are our unexpected blessings. We don’t have to worry about food on our table these next few weeks, as we tighten our budget to account for the “floods”! Our meal planning will consist of planning meals around what is already in our freezer, refrigerator, and pantry. Additionally, our laundry stockpile of Tide, Clorox bleach, Bounce etc. will help us maintain clean clothing for more than two months as we take care of paying for the new furnace, tree trimming, medical bills, etc. Our bathroom stockpile supplies of razors, shampoo, shaving cream, etc. will also help eliminate from our budget extra spending on personal hygiene items.
Our rain boots and raincoat are these stockpiles as we live with what we already have in our household these next few weeks. We’ll continue to clip coupons and grocery shop for only items that we need to create meals and live. Many days throughout the year, we live beyond our means but for today and for the weeks ahead, we’ll trim the budget and focus on our needs that will give us the security we need today & tomorrow. We’ll enjoy the JOY of reading books, painting, and using what we already have been blessed with, rather than coveting wants. The stockpile blessings will keep us reaping the rewards of a secured future without agonizing over bills from our unexpected floods this year!
It’s a true blessing to have a stockpile!
