Now that summer is creeping to a close you may want to begin thinking about your fall foliage. Many containers that you may already be using for summer can easily be revamped for fall.

I (Litsa) snapped these three easy directions from one of my fall magazines last year—-I loved their simple directions & wanted to share them with you so that we can all have fabulous fall containers that invite us home throughout autumn’s glorious season.

Three Step Fall Containers:

Start your container with a THRILLER—grasses like a purple fountaingrass are perfect for adding height to fall containers.

Add a FILLER (or two) such as ornamental kale and mums are fall classics. Use pansies if you want more vivid color for your containers.

Last, finish with a SPILLER such as a creeping jenny and/or a vinca that trails many containers in summer but can be kept for fall designs too.

What simple steps to remember as we keep our summer containers going by replacing faded plants with fresh fall stock—-thrill, fill, and spill—now what will we plant to showcase our individual fall containers?
