Stella Queen of the Snow by Marie Louise Gay is a delightful read for young readers and older readers! The language is beautiful:
“Winter was never so magical as in this marvelous book about Stella and Sam discovering a familiar landscape transformed by a heavy snowfall. Sam makes his very first snowstorm, and, as usual, he has lots of questions: Where do snowmen sleep? Can you eat a snowflake? Do snow angels sing? Older and bolder, Stella knows all the answers, and she delights in showing Sam the many pleasures of a beautiful winter’s day. Young readers are enchanted as Stella and Sam build a gigantic snowman, then they go skating and sledding and make beautiful snow angels in a fluffy, white, magical, and wondrous world.”
If winter is racing through your streets and children are begging for more, invite them into your space to read the words that grace this book. The endless stream of questions from Sam might just be the same questions they are asking you. And Stella’s answers…….”…cold as vanilla ice-cream…and sugar!” You’ll love her responses.
This book was one we checked out of the library but the language is a writer’s paradise—the words just dance! Don’t miss Stella this winter! Paperback versions and/or hardback books can be purchased here!
