Start Menu Planning For Thanksgiving

Fall Leaves

Even though Thanksgiving is still a couple of weeks away, I suggest you start thinking about your menu now! Research recipes or pull out your tried and true recipes. Once you narrow down what you want to make, start making a list of needed ingredients. If you start now you can look for items on sale.

Here are some things to think about:

Spices

You want to check your spices and herbs to make sure they are still good. Spices do have a shelf life and loose their potency. Make sure your spices still have a strong smell or consider buying new ones.

Oven

When planning your menu think about things that will need to go in the oven. I always try to make one dish in the slow cooker to make more room in the oven.

Pantry

If you are cooking on a budget this year, check to see what you have on hand first. Build your menu around your stockpile or at least use it as a guide. For inspiration on recipes check out the FREE ebook Thanksgiving Recipes.

Grocery

Plan your grocery trips to make the shopping experience go smoother. I posted some tips last year on Preparing for Holiday Grocery Shopping.

Do you make the same dishes year after year or do you try new recipes? I think we are traveling this year so I won’t be cooking my usual dishes.
