Do you have a spring cleaning check sheet or do you just move room to room cleaning from corner to corner? Do you use Scrubbing Bubbles, Windex and more——-or are you embracing your grandmother’s approach to spring cleaning naturally?
Publix Family Style’s April/May 2013 issue reminded me that I can, “honor Earth Day on April 22nd–and save some GREEN–by creating my own inexpensive, eco-friendly household products!”
- Streak Free Glass Cleaner: To make mirrors and windows sparkle, mix 2 cups water, 1/4 cup vinegar and 1/2 teaspoon liquid soap in a spray bottle.
- Hardwood Floor Cleaner: In a bucket, mix 1/4 cup distilled white vinegar with one gallon warm water. Use a mop on wood or linoleum floors, then rinse with water. Wipe up any pooled solution before it dries.
- Drain Declogger: Pour one-half of a 16 ounce box of baking soda down the drain (do not wet or combine anything with the baking soda). Then add 1/2 cup of vinegar and cover the drain tightly with a large rag. Let sit for about 30 minutes. Then pour boiling water down the drain and rinse well. Repeat if necessary.
I (Litsa) love all of these tips for my spring cleaning list! Although I always find coupons for cleaning products, there are many chemicals’ fumes that hinder me from staying in the same room (especially small rooms like the bathrooms). The chemicals quickly alter my clean air. Without the ability to open windows in our older home, I’m always thinking that I need to embrace cleaning the natural way—-by using baking soda, vinegar, water, and more! I think I’ll go PIN a few ideas on Pinterest to get me started this week!
Do you have any natural spring cleaning tips?
