Are you getting your stuff organized? Today Alecia over at Savings & Stewardship is talking about toy organization. After my Target shopping trip, we will definitely need more ideas in toy organization!

We did clean out the kids rooms recently and added organizational units. We decided on the tall tower units available at Ikea. They are working wonderfully for us. For the most part, the boys have kept their toys cleaned up for the last two weeks.

Make sure you check out Alecia’s tips on organizing the kids play area. I love the Sling Bookshelf she is using!

  1. Depending on the ages of the kids, and how you have the toys organized, you may want to place pictures and block letters on the outside of the bins. I have a friend who has a “dinosaur” bin, a “car” bin, a “lego” bin, etc. So, that said, you can improve your child’s letter recognition (and early reading) by taking an index card (probably over-sized) and place a picture of the things you want in each bin and the spelling out/labeling what is in there. This also helps when you have friends over, they can then help with the clean up as well, since the bins are clearly marked.
