Screen-Free Week is an annual event in which parents, children, teachers, and others across the country turn off screen media (TV, video games, computers, cell phones, etc.) and celebrate the magic of being unplugged.

Are you signed up for this event?

SAVE THE DATES: April 30 – May 6, 2012—–Yes! The start of this event was yesterday but it is not too late to unplug, turn the TV off and load the children up for an outing to the local park, a walk around the neighborhood, bike rides, a few outdoor games: Frisbee, pitch, chase, etc. Use each and everyone of the days left to become Screen FREE!

As a parent that loves to stay connected via social networks, blogs, and more, I am determined to stay semi-screen free while we enjoy as many outdoor activities as possible this week and throughout the rest of spring and summer!

If the spring rains are in your area, pick an activity from below:

  • Bake cookies for the local fire department and/or police departments
  • Read a book or magazine
  • Act out a beloved fairy tale with your family
  • Call your mother, grandmother, or a friend
  • Paint a picture
  • Write in a journal

What activities will you find to replace your screen free days?
