Years ago, I (Litsa) would pick up copies of Runner’s World at my cousin’s apartment…reading material that I always found interesting. I never had the desire to be a runner but always loved walking—nature walks, walks with friends and/or family around local tracks and more! Then, when I became a mom five years ago, I loved to stroll and walk my little girl. After our strolling days were over and she entered half-day three year old preschool, I walked almost daily. The trend continued when she was at preschool this past year. I, like Renae, desired the time I had set aside to walk/run (my exercise program).
My stroll has turned into a five mile plus daily walk/run. Although I have desired to run a 5K, I have not completed the Couch to 5K training program to its fullest potential. Yet, I walk/run—-and have logged 180.71 miles since January the 8th (when I have remembered to turn on my training app on my smartphone)! I log my miles onto Walgreens Step Dashboard and on a written log that also charts my daily weight and monthly body measurements! Each of these endeavors keeps me motivated to walk/run! I’m almost 40 but stronger than ever———I’m also proud to say that I’m a Runner’s World subscriber and as of this week, a Runner’s World Streaker!
Join the community of Runner’s World and join the 2013 Summer Challenge to walk/run one mile a day from Memorial Day to Independence Day!
Will you join the running streak too?
