I (Litsa) love to read about hot, new produce that’s on the shelves this season—-or available at our local farmer’s market and/or a specialty shop! Produce is always on the top of my EAT list.
Today, I read “21 Weeks to grow Kalettes” in my Elle September issue!?! I was intrigued so I read further:
“In a May-December romance of veggie crossbreeding, leafy-green-of-the-moment kale has hooked up with old standby brussels sprout. After 15 years of development by a brand of UK scientists, Kalettes are the first new vegetable since broccolini.”
I’ve always been interested or at least amazed at the cross-breading that takes place to create new flowers and vegetables!?! What a difference a pair makes!?!
Now, to locate this new young, hot produce: Kalettes.
If you locate it before I do, let me know where you found it.
