Plum’s are in season! My mom usually makes plum jelly. This year she ventured into making Plum Sauce. This sauce is versatile and can be served over pork chops, waffles, pancakes and many other things. It can also be made into a salad dressing! Thanks to my Aunt Joyce for sharing the recipe and thanks to my mom for sharing her pictures!
The first step is to pick your plums! You might ask around and see if any friends or family members have a plum tree!
Coarsely chop plums using a food processor. My mom used her Ninja!
Cook the plums, pectin and sugar on the stove to a rolling boil.
- 10 cups of coarsely chopped plums
- 1 cup water
- 1 packet of pectin
- 7 cups of sugar
- Bring chopped plums and pectin to a rolling boil that can't be stirred down.
- Add sugar all at one time, bring back to a rolling boil and boil for 1 minute.
- Pour into sterile jars and seal.
- Process in a water bath canner for 10 minutes. (Note: That my mom's jars sealed before she used the water bath canner.)
