Pillow Pets, Flipeez, Little Mommy Dolls, Sip & Tip Cups………and so much more!?! Commercials that instantly persuade children! “Mommy, I want…..”
If I have heard it once, I’ve heard it…….Oh! You too!?!
Or sugar cereals with big, comical eyes that are inviting us all to play along………are these breakfast foods persuading your children too!?!
When we as parents are busy or looking to appease do we give in to these persuading trends or do they persuade us too? We MUST all take time to really see, listen—-discern what is persuading us as families to make decisions.
Are we choosing foods and toys based on persuading commercials on television and/or are we allowing foods in the middle aisles of the grocery store to pack on unhealthy trends?
Companies pay millions to market their products. They discuss and research. As families we can do the same…..
We can make an investment in our children (our product). We can discuss how companies want us to buy their product and why. We can ‘compare and contrast products’ around the kitchen table. Not only will we learn from one another as a family but we can begin to change “I wants….” into “We need to….”
Focus on what matters.
Needs before wants. Raising children to think…..to ponder beyond, “I want….”
In the end, what we do is more persuasive too! What trends are you setting for your child(ren) to model?
