It’s already March—are you marching to the beat of a new year….a new you slowly letting go of your New Year goals and/or resolutions or is there a new rhythm to your year? Wherever you are in your year this season of 2014, it is never too late to start fresh and add another goal or revisit a goal for a better tomorrow or a new you!! This month we can all MARCH into a healthier version of ourselves by eating what our bodies were designed to eat—healthy foods.
March in National Nutrition Month! I (Litsa) love this circular visual on what nutrition looks like from whole grain breads to fresh fruits and vegetables and more——-and with life….Well, we all know that life moves in a circle and many times spinning out of control with the wheel turning so fast that we tend to grab at FAST FOOD. But what is fast food for you!?!
For me, fast food these past three years have been reaching for a bottle of water, a bag of nuts, a banana, an apple, a jar of oatmeal, frozen grapes—and more! Convenience in the kitchen, at the work place, in your car comes from planning ahead—we know that we have to eat so what will we eat!?! Here are a few personal tips that I have embraced that help me and I keep adding to my list:
- Refrain from buying packaged foods that are processed–clean eating
- Buy more fruits and vegetables weekly that are fresh and ready to eat: Apples, carrots, peppers, bananas, pears, grapes, plums, peaches, and more.
- Juicing
- Bottled water at home and in car for easy access
- No sodas
- Protein bars in purse/car
- Nuts in car, purse, home counter
- Oatmeal Yogurt Jars in refrigerator for breakfast/snacks
- Roasting vegetables
- Fresh salads for lunch/dinner
Eating healthy is mandatory for a better frame of mind today and a tomorrow full of energy!
