Kids do not understand time very well. No matter how many times we explain the concept of a day or a week, our young boys can’t grasp how long that is. The solution is to make a countdown calendar.
I am fortunate to have a hubby that is artistic! He made the above countdown calendar for an airplane trip we took last year. Each day we crossed off a box until our trip day. This gave our boys a visual for what a day meant.
Countdown calenders can be made for many occasions- birthdays, vacations, back to school or relatives visiting. It doesn’t have to be fancy- just something to keep track of days. Your kids could even help make the countdown calendar!
