I have not done a regular grocery shopping trip in a couple of weeks. I finally got to Kroger for the P&G Mega Event although I really didn’t need many of those products. I did have a coupon for FREE Charmin Toilet Paper that I received at BlogHer. I try to save my free item coupons to make them work even better for me. In this instance, I got a little overage since I used it on a Mega Event item. Here is how it worked:
Charmin Toilet Paper, $6.99
Save $1 instantly wyb 4 P&G products
Used FREE coupon
Cashier took off $6.99 so $1 overage (Pre Mega price)
Gillettee Body Wash, $2.99
Save $1 instantly wyb 4 P&G products
Used $2/1 Gillette Body Wash coupon from product insert
Free after coupon
Duracell Batteries, $5.97
Save $1 instantly wyb 4 P&G products
Used $1/1 Duracell coupon from product insert
$3.97 after coupon
Gillette Shave Cream, $1.37
Save $1 instantly wyb 4 P&G products
$0.37 after instant savings
So in total I paid $3.34 for (4) P&G items that would have normally retailed for over $17. Not bad!
For the rest of my Kroger shopping trip I didn’t have too many coupons. It is Capt. M’s birthday and we are having a party this weekend. So, I had to purchase soda, ice cream, chips and dip that really hiked up the price on my trip. Plus I found a pork roast on markdown for $6 which will make a nice pulled pork.
In total I spent $73.56 and saved $65.81. That works out to 47%. Not my best shopping trip but decent since I bought a lot of snacks, cheese, meat and dairy with no coupons.
How did you do this week?

Nice trip! We can’t always save more than 50%. What is important is that you got what you needed!
