Keep your child’s brain active this summer by reading! There are several FREE reading programs available that will encourage your child to continue on their reading adventure.
Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Program
Read any 8 books and record them in the Reading Journal (PDF). take the journal to your local Barnes & Noble to redeem the book. Your child can pick the free book based on a preselected list. More info about the Barnes & Noble program can be found here.
Book It Summer Break Challenge
After your child reads five books have them submit the Summer Break form for a chance to win a prize pack. It looks like the information from last year’s challenge is still up. Keep checking back at Book It for this summer’s challenge.
Chuck E Cheese Rewards Calendar
Print out the rewards calendar and record the books your child reads. Bring the chart into a participating Chuck E Cheese and earn 10 free tokens.
Half Price Books Feed Your Brain
Once you’ve read 300 minutes, turn in your completed reading log to earn your $5 HPB Bookworm Bucks reading reward for the month.
HEB Summer Reading Program
HEB has the H-E-Buddy Reading Club. Read 10 books and mail in the form to receive a prize.
Local Library
Check with your local library about reading programs in your area. I know our library offers a great FREE summer program for kids. They do get prizes for reading a certain amount of books plus there is a weekly program with crafts, singing and book reading!
Pottery Barn Kids Summer Reading
Pick a book list to read and track your child’s progress throughout the summer. Once your child has completed the list, bring the form into a local Pottery Barn to get a free book. There is also a sweepstakes.
Scholastic Summer Challenge
Log your child’s reading minutes and earn digital rewards. Plus the school that logs the most minutes will earn a prize. Checkout the Scholastic Summer Challenge for more info.
Showcase Cinemas Bookworm Wednesday
Bookworm Wednesdays entitles kids to free admission to a select children’s film when they present a book report at a participating Cinema de Lux, Showcase, or Multiplex cinemas box office.
Sylvan Book Adventure
Kids can take quizzes on select books they read to earn points. The points can then be redeemed for prizes.
TD Bank Summer Reading Program
Read 10 books and record them on the Summer Reading Form. Take the form into your nearest TD Bank and $10 will be deposited into a new or existing saver account.
