Do you use curry powder in recipes much? Did you know that curry powder is actually a mix of spices? Checkout this interesting information about curry!
Publix Family Style recently spotlighted a spice I don’t often take advantage of using: Curry Powder—-here’s what they said:
“Traditionally, curry powder contains turmeric, coriander, cumin, fenugreek, ginger, nutmeg, fennel, cinnamon, white pepper, cardamom, cloves, black pepper and cayenne pepper. While you can make your own curry powder, this flavorful spice blend makes classic Indian flavors easy to try at home without worrying about getting the right ingredient mix. It’s also available in sweet or hot varieties, as well as a style called Maharajah, which adds saffron.
To introduce curry powder to your family simply sprinkle a bit over chicken or fish, add one teaspoon to a pot of chicken soup, mix 1 teaspoon into cooked rice with 1 tablespoon butter or mix 2 teaspoons into plain yogurt with diced shallot as a dip for pita or vegetables.”
I (Litsa) do believe that I’ve had Curry Powder mixed in with Greek Yogurt (Fage) at a local Sam’s store—-it was served with a healthy chip but I do believe the mix was delightful! It’s on my list to try now that I’ve been reminded of the ingredient list of curry powder! What about you? What’s your favorite Curry Powder dish!?!
