When I was a little girl my mom made clothes for my Barbie and Cabbage Patch dolls. It was so much cheaper for her to make the clothes herself rather than buy them. My mom is a pretty talented seamstress and didn’t require a pattern. I still have some of the doll clothes that my mom made- they lasted so long because they are higher quality than store bought!

American Girl Clothes Pattern

I came across these free doll clothing patterns and thought some of you may want to make doll clothes for gifts! Liberty Jane Patterns is offering FREE patterns for American Girl, Karito Kid and Ellowyne Dolls. Of course if you don’t have these exact dolls you can use a pattern that is for a similar size doll. There are also a few FREE Barbie clothes printable patterns at Janel Was Here.

So what do you think? Anyone taking on sewing doll clothes as gifts?

What a great idea! I wonder if one can save outgrown clothes and use them to make the doll clothes? I will have to check into this! Then, my daughter’s clothes could become her doll clothes—and she loves her dolls! When she was a little baby, I found a solid wood baby bed that rocks. It had a homemade quilt and pillow in it. So I bought it for $5, brought it home—my husband sanded it, coated it with fresh paint to match the trim in our house. The bedding, I gave to my neighbor and some new material, I had bought at JoAnn’s….It was transformed into a new, one-of-a-kind piece….My neighbor, added personal touches with tucks and lace on the quilt…A Keepsake!
