Squash Plants

After a slow start, our vegetable garden is growing quickly. Sometimes I just stand out there admiring our work! Since we started most plants from seed this year, it is really rewarding to see such large plants! We had a long few weeks of rain so we actually didn’t have to water the garden for three weeks!

Baby Yellow Squash

Last year we hardly got any squash. We had a serious infestation of squash bugs and our soil was not right. This year looks like we will have an abundance of yellow squash and golden zucchini. We have more than 20 baby squash right now! Now to think of squash recipes!

Baby Cucumber

We also have an abundance of baby cucumbers. I have three varieties of cucumbers planted – Burpless, Lemon and Pickling. Only the burpless cucumber plants have babies at this point. By the looks of the number of baby cucumbers, we will have plenty to share!

Grape Tomatoes

The identity of the volunteer tomato plant was finally revealed too! It looks like a grape tomato plant! My boys love grape tomatoes so we are happy to have it. Some of the other tomato plants have a few tomatoes on them as well. We are still weeks away from having a large ripe tomato.

How is your garden growing? Any babies yet?
