Meal planning is vital for our family that eats at home every day on most weeks. It saves us time and money. We are forced to use what’s in our pantry. Some items in our pantry can help us be creative with new recipes and others help us create tried and true family favorites. Beyond using what we have in our pantry for meal planning this month, it is time to start using what’s in our freezer for meal planning!
If you spent last spring and summer buying fresh produce from local fruit/vegetable stands and farmer’s markets, you may still have a healthy supply of food in the freezer that needs to be factored into your meal planning. We still have peas and corn by the bag fulls and are enjoying eating both items fresh with only having to plan a meat most nights to make complete inexpensive meals.
Freezers sometimes house frozen entrees and pizzas—-and extra vegetables that might make easy meals and/or soups. Don’t forget about browsing through the recipe index for items you might have on hand to create fabulous meals for yourself and/or family.
