Coupons as Currency

binder

For the past several years, I (Litsa) have used coupons as currency. They negate dollars off of every grocery shopping trip that I take—-and the receipts add up to put more money back into my wallet. I have updated my coupon binder season after season but this year, I’m ending 2014 without a coupon binder!

My coupon binder went everywhere with me but it is cumbersome and it always made me think of my beloved Trapperkeeper from the 1980s growing up!?! Coupons are still my currency and they might always be because they SAVE my family money weekly—if not daily!?! My coupon binder was NEVER the big, fat, thick binder that several coupon extremists go to save—and I do SAVE BIG but without the fat binder!

I didn’t use a chart to note how the savings added up in 2014 (as I did in 2013) but I know that our savings did negate added medical bills and that the coupons helped stretch our budget. Our pantry and closets are full of supplies—–and I’ve given away more tubs of goodies than I can count. I’ll always embrace savings but without the binder from this day forward…I’ve made a mini binder of sorts, that I’m using to slide into my purse for savings but eventually, I’m sure I’ll go completely digital with ecoupons and apps…..(Savvy Shopper Apps)

Additionally, I’ll always watch my receipts. Razors that I picked up for $6.49 with an ecoupon of buy one, get one FREE rang up wrong today—$7.29 (that was $0.80 that I needed for something else). And paper coupons might always be wedged in my wallet, just in case……$2.00 off of Pantene that was $2.09 on closeout today cost me only $0.09—-

I’m ending the year with added savings and new goals as how to save money in 2015 but without the coupon binder but one like denominator: Coupons will remain a part of my currency.

It pays to $AVE.
