Limes, a tart fruit, are small in size. They are sometimes named April’s Superfoods because they are RICH in nutritional qualities. These emeralds are great sources of vitamin C, fiber and flavonoids, powerful antioxidants that can help prevent infections and diseases. Additionally, they aid in immune and digestive system health. Lime juice can be added to vegetables in place of lemons—-or one can create simple, raw, clean salads like Lime Cilantro Slaw. Lime zest can be added to fresh summer salsa appetizers. The oils from the peel are noted in helping alleviate symptoms of nausea or congestion.
Use lime juice in your favorite green juices and/or add lime to homemade guacamole. Fish and poultry are often infused with limes’ fresh juice. Top salads and more this season with the season’s feistiest superfood, limes!
Don’t forget too that you can freeze fresh lime juice to use in future juices/dishes.
