Back to School

In our county, school starts in three weeks. That means that many families are starting to shop for back to school deals. Don’t get overwhelmed with all of the shopping to do!

Here are 5 Tips for Saving on Back to School Shopping:

  • Don’t feel like you have to buy a whole new wardrobe for your child now. Spread out the shopping over the next few months to save money and time. Shop the sales and clearance racks.
  • Shop second hand stores or hold a clothing swap with friends. Kids grow at a fast rate- sometimes clothing is only worn for a short period before it is outgrown.
  • The cheapest price for school supplies will be within the next couple of weeks. Make sure to stockup for the whole year- you won’t see these low prices again until next year.
  • Some states offer a Tax Free Holiday. Virginia holds their Tax Free Holiday from August 5-7th, 2011.
  • Invest in reusable products like plasticware instead of baggies, lunchbox instead of brown bags and a reusable water bottle.
