Have you noticed that grocery prices are on the rise? I have certainly seen the prices climbing for coffee, beef and cheese.
In the August issue of All You magazine I read that overall people are paying about 4% more on their grocery bill. Some products like meat are up to 8% more expensive this year over last year.
What does this mean? Well, try to save where you can. Here are some ideas:
- Stretch the meat in your recipes.
- Stockup when you see prices at their rock bottom price.
- Use coupons on other items. My feeling is that if you save on other items you can put that money towards the more expensive items that don’t have coupons.
- Cook in season.
Remember that you can still score an exclusive deal on All You magazine– just $1.33 an issue!

Yes! With just me and my husband we use to be able to get by with $60 worth of groceries if need be. Now, not so much. On average we are spending $150 a week on just the 2 of us. :(
Hi Sam,
That is a large jump for you I am sure!Hopefully you are able to save on non-food items like health and beauty products. If you don’t know how to work the drug store deals, I would love to help you with that!
Absolutely!! My husband and I were talking about this last night! There are items that I used to buy on sale regularly that I haven’t because the sale price has been above what I typically pay. Unfortunately, it looks like I’m going to have to change my price points a bit on some items!

Hi Heather,
Yes, I need to adjust my price points too! I have noticed prices for meat are getting no where near what I paid last summer.
Bacon! I love bacon (especially on BLT’s), but the price of bacon is crazy! I have also seen an increase in cheese.
The only thing I have seen decrease is the price of half gallon of Horizon organic milk at Food Lion. It is $2.99 now. This may be due to a recent study that stated Horizon may not be organic after all!
Hi Sara,
Yes, I have noticed the price of bacon going up plus there seems to be a lack of coupons! A couple of years ago bacon coupons were plentiful- not any longer.
A BLT sounds so good right now with my homegrown tomatoes! Yummy!
