One of my favorite Holiday treats is toffee. Butter and sugar melted together makes the most delightful mixture. While Renae enjoys making her grandmother’s English Toffee recipe, there is a five minute version of toffee crackers that will do in a pinch.
When I make these toffee crackers, I use honey graham crackers. However, saltine crackers can also be used. I also use chopped pecans and chocolate chips. Really any nut or chocolate can be used!
If you want to try homemade candy, make sure you try Renae’s English Toffee recipe!
- 11 whole graham crackers, broken into squares
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1⁄2 cup finely chopped pecans
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, chopped
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Line a baking sheet with foil. Arrange graham crackers on foil in a single layer.
- Combine butter and sugar in saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly until butter melts. Once butter has melted, boil 4 minutes. Make sure to constantly stir mixture.
- Remove from heat and stir in chopped pecans.
- Pour mixture evenly over crackers and spread carefully to edge of pan, covering crackers completely.
- Bake for 10 minutes.
- Remove from oven and sprinkle evenly with chocolate chips.
- Cool in pan for 5 minutes; carefully separate crackers.
- Transfer squares to a wax paper lined cookie sheet.
- Let cool completely and then serve!
