The most basic juicer can be found at almost every yard sale and/or thrift store that you walk into—it’s the citrus press! I (Litsa) can’t believe that I don’t own one or five since I’m always juicing lemons, limes, oranges for salad toppings and/or homemade salsas. I love the citrus presses that are vibrant yellows and oranges—-and those that are glass!
You might have one of these lemon squeezers hidden away in your kitchen cabinet and/or drawer. It is an occasional-use gadget that I may have owned once upon a time…..but now that I’m home cooking daily, I need one in every size!
My Breville juicer would juice my citrus produce but it’s much too messy and a hassle to get out my juicer for just two limes! The citrus press has the advantage of being quick to use. One simple horizontal slice of a lemon or orange—and you press the cut end down onto the ‘reamer’ which is itself a half-lemon shape, grooved to increase the pressure on the fruit flesh that allows the juice to run down into the bowl (part of the citrus juicer).
If you’re freezing lemons and limes, you may want more than the classic citrus juicer, but if one or two is all you want to squeeze grab this simple juicer. In this little gadget, you find that the pith and pips are separated from the juice by a simple circle of nodules surrounding the reamer. A flat handle is usually available on the citrus press to assist you in handling the fresh squeezed juice to your chia jam pot or onto your salad/salsa, etc.

I don’t think I can cook another year without a citrus juicer or two taking residence in my kitchen!
