I participated in an Influencer Activation Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for the Beef Checkoff. I received products to facilitate this review and a promotional item to thank me for participating.
Beef – It’s what’s for dinner! We are beef lovers here and love the flexibility that beef brings to cooking. Most beef cooks quickly which makes it great for work night meals. Of course beef roasts take longer but they are a frequent slow cooker item in my house!
Beef kabobs are easy to make on the grill and I love how colorful they are with all of the vegetables. Kabobs are great to serve at a party since people can just grab a skewer and go. Plus you can make so many different varieties with different marinades and veggies.
When I went to the grocery store, I realized I didn’t know what cut of beef would be good for kabobs. I decided to ask the butcher what cut of beef would be best. Not only did he find me tender choice top sirloin, he cut it into 1″ pieces for me! Most grocery stores will offer this service for free so don’t be afraid to ask! Another resource to research cuts of beef and find recipes is the BeefItsWhatsforDinner.com website.
The first step in making kabobs is to marinate the meat. The beef needs to be in the marinade for at least an hour. For the most flavorful kabobs, marinate overnight! While the kabobs are marinating, let’s learn a little about beef!
Did you know that beef contains 10 essential nutrients? I knew it had iron and protein, but didn’t realize that beef has a healthy dose of niacin, riboflavin, Vit B6 and B12, zinc, phosphorous, choline and selenium. Plus some lean cuts of beef contain less than 10g of fat per 3.5 oz. serving! Even more interesting, some beef cuts are as lean as a 3 oz. portion of a skinless chicken thigh. Yes, beef is healthy too!
Once the beef if marinated, go ahead and assemble the kabobs using your favorite vegetables. They are just so pretty with red and yellow peppers and zucchini!
Once the kabobs are assembled, throw those bad boys on the grill! It should only take a maximum of 15 minutes to grill these.
