food insecurity

Have you ever researched how many hungry children there are in your own area? I checked out the Hunger Map on the Child Hunger Ends Here website and Virginia overall has a 16.2% child food insecurity rate. That means about 299,600 children don’t know where there next meal is coming from. Overall, Virginia has a 12.1% food insecurity rate which means 993,530 people are at risk. These numbers are huge! Sadly, there are other states that have a lot more food insecurity than Virginia.

Food insecurity means that these people don’t have access to meals everyday. Sometimes they may have food, and other times they may not. It all depends on the other needs like housing and bills. I urge you to check the hunger map and determine what the food insecurity rate is in your area.

Just enter the 8-digit code on my sidebar widget or at http://www.childhungerendshere.com/. For each code entered, one meal will be donated to Feeding America. Enter codes for Child Hunger Ends Here through the end of August 2014.

I would also love for you all to take a moment and fill out this quick survey so that ConAgra Foods and Child Hunger Ends Here can gauge awareness of this campaign!
