Do you repurpose the plastic containers that produce comes in? The containers that hold strawberries, blueberries and grapes come in handy for many things! I got this tip from my mother-in-law earlier this year.
I use a container that held 2 lbs. of strawberries to collect items from my garden each day. I love that there are holes in the plastic! I simply just place the whole container in the sink when I come inside and rinse the produce. The holes make it an instant colander! (Note that I don’t rinse the large tomatoes or eggs until we are ready to eat them!)
Other uses for plastic produce containers:
- Great for the kids to collect bugs and lizards! If the holes are too big, place a paper towel inside.
- Sending baked goods to a friend? Package cookies or muffins in these containers. My mother-in-law just uses wax paper between the layers of cookies.
- Use the container for scraps for the compost bin or animal scraps.
- Take the containers with you in the car for foraging adventures. We have been foraging for blackberries lately and these containers come in handy!
- These would be great for some sort of craft too!
Do you throw out your plastic containers or repurpose them?
