The first time I became aware of child hunger here in the United States was when Capt. M entered elementary school a few years back. I learned that the only meal that some kids received was the school lunch. We are lucky to have a program in our county that offers sack lunches for the needy children to take home on weekends. But one meal a day is still not enough.
Did you know that more than one in five children in the U.S. may not know where their next meal is coming from? That’s nearly 16 million children right here in the U.S.! Children who suffer from hunger are malnourished which can lead to long-term consequences with health, well-being and academics. It is such a sad thing for children to have to deal with!
Fortunately Con-Agra Foods and P&G have come up with a program to help feed the children. Up to 7 million meals will be donated with the Child Hunger Ends Here Campaign. It is so easy for you (yes you!), to get involved too! Look for the red pushpin on specially marked packages of ConAgra and P&G products and locate the code. Enter the code in the widget on my blog sidebar or at www.ChildHungerEndsHere.com. For each 8-digit code entered ConAgra Foods or P&G, respectively, will donate the monetary equivalent of one meal to Feeding America. This promotion runs until the end of August 2014.
An alternative way to donate a meal is to download Hunter Hayes new song! For every download of Hunter’s new single, “Invisible,” on iTunes, Child Hunger Ends Here will donate the monetary equivalent of one meal to, Feeding America, up to 1 million meals. There is also an exciting facebook contest this month with Hunter Hayes! Come up with a question to “Ask Hunter” and he might personally answer the question! Enter a code for your cahnce to “Ask Hunter” a question. He will pick one winner to personally answer the question and post the video to the Child Hunger Ends Here facebook page! This is a great opportunity of you are a huge Hunter fan!
I would also love for you all to take a moment and fill out this quick survey so that ConAgra Foods and Child Hunger Ends Here can gauge awareness of this campaign!
Remember to enter your codes on my sidebar widget or at www.ChildHungerEndsHere.com!
