As I was reading my April 2014 issue of Fitness magazine yesterday, I was reminded of ‘eat in moderation’ with this small little GREEN box that stated…
Have Your Cake….
“….and enjoy it too. Women who reported feeling sorry after eating a ‘forbidden’ food gained nearly seven times more weight over an 18-month period than those who didn’t, according to a new study in the journal Appetite. Regret can have a “what the [heck]” effect that makes dieters give up on their good intentions. To let go of guilt, “treat all dessert like birthday cake: an occasional indulgence worthy of celebration,” suggests researcher Jessica Boyce, Ph.D.”
I might also note that I (Litsa) enjoy my desert many times throughout the month—in moderation! I love chocolate bites, sugar in my coffee, and an occasional banana split that I don’t SPLIT with anyone. If I have a mild craving, I allow myself to celebrate my craving because the rest of the time I’m focused on whole, nutritional—CLEAN eating! I don’t diet. I’ve embrace eating healthy as a lifestyle. Having enjoyed healthy options for so long, I seldom crave processed treats and when I bite into them I’m mostly disappointed and return to my ‘normal’ healthy food choices. However, when I EAT the entire chocolate Lindt bar infused with orange slices, I don’t feel guilty. I do though refrain from a second bar of chocolate for the day—or week!
It’s a mindset but don’t refrain from celebrating yourself!
In moderation….
