We have had about 8 inches of rain in the last week and a half here in Central Virginia. It’s actually too much of a good thing! As the West Coast is in desperate need of rain, I sure wish I could send these storms that way!
I came home a couple of days ago to find one of our apple trees toppled over. The ground around the tree was mushy and with the high winds, the tree just fell over. The trunk is not broken but who knows about the roots below the surface.
Hubby and I hoisted the tree back up and staked her up. We are hoping the roots are not damaged and the ground around the tree firms up.
Of course this was the apple tree with apples on it too! The other apple tree we have doesn’t have apples on it this year.
It’s tough being a “farmer”! Lot’s of frustration but also lot’s of gratification too!
Anyone have any experience with trees falling over but surviving when staked?
