Summer’s in full bloom! I’m sure you are hitting the sack as soon as your children are too! Even when the sun’s exhausting rays have worn us down——or maybe it’s the endless tasks of keeping our households in order…Nonetheless, it’s a great reminder to sit back and think about how you can really love your children——children are miraculous! I love the reminder myself as a mom of one very busy five year old! With me this summer is a bookmark from the Early Childhood-Head Start Task Force that denotes, “7 Super Things Parents & Caregivers Can Do!”
1. Talk often with your child from the day they are born.
2. Hug them, hold them, and respond to their needs & interests.
3. Listen carefully as your children communicate with you.
4. Read aloud to your children every day, even when they are babies. Play & sing with them often.
5. Say “yes” and “I love you” as much as you say “no” and “don’t.”
6. Ensure a safe, orderly, and predictable environment, wherever they are.
7. Set limits on their behavior & disciple them calmly, not harshly.
We all make mistakes but NOW is a good time to retrain ourselves with “SUPER” tips that help our child(ren) listen to us, respect us, & learn from us!
Enjoy the rest of your summer continuing to LOVE your child every second of your day—–twirl, swim, praise, cook, encourage, pray, count to ten……tag you’re it!
