Try Something New: Mini Red Bananas

I was at Kroger last week and they had bananas on markdown for $0.29/lb. Along with the yellow bananas were these mini red bananas. We have never had red bananas so they became our try something new!

My boys were very excited when I got home with these mini bananas! The small size is perfect for kiddos or if you just want a small snack. We learned that the skin is purplish red due to the presence of carotene. The redder the skin, the more carotene and vitamin C there is!

The inside of the mini red banana looks the same as it’s yellow skinned cousin. And guess what? It tasted pretty much like a banana! It was slightly sweeter than a regular size yellow banana.

I sure hope to find these on markdown again since they are the perfect size for lunchboxes!

    OOOO! Those look really good! I like how thick they look!
