Country Life: Toy Box Nesting

Since my garden is past it’s prime, I decided I needed something else to write about on Sunday! Our animals and country life give me plenty opportunities for funny photos and stories. So, you will now find Country Life on Sunday!

We have a toy box on our covered deck that is most of the time empty. This is due to the fact that the boys are always playing with their outdoor toys. One of our chickens decided to put the toy box to good use!

Almost everyday, this hen lays an egg in the toy box! We have to check the box regularly since our dogs are egg fans. If the dogs find the egg first, they eat it. They gently break it open and eat the whites and yolk.  Luckily the hen usually makes a lot of noise when she is laying. When we hear her, we know it’s time to check the toy box for an egg!

Make sure you check out my previous post if you want to find out how to raise chickens for eggs!
