Daddy Daycare: School of Fish

Hubby has been taking the boys fishing several times a week. Most of the time they just catch and release. On occasion, they will catch a fish big enough to eat. Capt. M. likes to eat fish and actually ordered fish in a restaurant a few months back!

When I came home a few days ago, I as greeted with smiling boys saying “Mommy! Look at our fish!”

I was a bit surprised to see a school of tiny fish in a fish tank.

The boys had taken buckets down to the river when they were fishing. The minnows were everywhere and apparently very easy to catch. The buckets easily scooped up several tiny minnows that the boys just had to bring home.

Hubby didn’t think the fish would live long at all. It turns out that they are pretty hardy fish since they have occupied the tank for over a week now. These fish have actually lasted longer than some pet store fish we bought in the past! Both boys are being very responsible with caring for the fish. Capt. M handles the night feeding as Mr. B takes the morning shift.

I have no idea what we will do with the fish as they grow. I told hubby he better grab a shovel and start digging since it looks like we will need a pond very soon!

Hubby is currently a stay at home dad to our two boys. Capt. M is 5 and in Kindergarten and Mr. B is 4 and loves staying home with daddy all day. Join us as we chronicle our journey adjusting to daddy daycare.

  1. Well aren’t those minnows the luckiest fish to have been caught by your boys. Will be interesting to see how big they grow!
