We are in LeapFrog Summer Camp and just finishing week #2! I wanted to give you a little information on what my boys have been doing with this program. It’s not too late to join in the fun either!

The theme for LeapFrog Summer Camp Week #1 was Out & About. We talked about places in our community, maps and items in the kids rooms. LeapFrog has free printables to help with the lessons. We printed a map of the United States and learned about historic places. The neat thing was one of the places on the list was Mr. Rushmore in South Dakota. It turns out that grandma and grandpa were visiting Mr. Rushmore that same week!

We even made mini models of each of the boys rooms! The bedroom replicas helped the boys understand direction and navigational words. We just used scrap paper, some cardboard and empty toilet paper tubes to create “furniture”. Hubby also took the boys to the Old Stone Jail in our small town for a history lesson. The boys were able to record their adventure in their LeapFrog Neighborhood Passport.

Caring for Animals is the theme of Week #2. This was a pretty easy week for my boys as they are great about taking care of our animals! One of our boys chores is to check for eggs in the chicken coupe each day. This doesn’t seem like a “chore” to them; they love collecting eggs!

Capt. M and Mr. B are also responsible for helping feed the animals. The one thing they need to work on understanding is the water supply. The boys have a tendency to play in the dogs water. We talked a lot this week about how dogs need fresh water all day long- especially on hot summer days.

Week #3 starts Monday and the the theme is Puzzle Time! Head on over to LeapFrog Summer Camp and signup for this FREE summer activity!
