Start gathering items for donation! One of the awesome things about couponing is being able to give back to the community. Whether it be health and beauty products or shelf stable food, coupons allow many of us to get items for free or cheap in order to donate. Kaley over at Cha Ching on a Shoestring started Couponing for Community two years ago in effort to unite couponers all over the United States to make an impact. During last years Couponing for Community week, 127 bloggers promoted the event which ended up in 26,639 items being donated!
The Couponing for Community event takes place from May 6th to 12th this year. May 12th is also National Stamp Out Hunger day, making giving as easy as leaving a bag of non-perishable items by your mailbox. The goal this year is to donate 30,000 items and we need your help!
What can you do now?
- First, head on over and Like Couponing for Community on Facebook! That will help keep you up to date on the details of the upcoming event and give you a place to connect with all of the other participating!
- Second, as you shop over the next few weeks, begin to set aside items that you can donate during the week of May 6-12. Keep track of the number of items that you give away since we are tracking items. You can even take a picture to upload on the Facebook page.
- If you have a blog and would like to participate, simply write up a post about Couponing for Community and then submit the direct link to your post on the ‘Join Us’ tab.
