Schools are in need of donations more than ever. Now that my son is in Kindergarten, I see first hand how many supplies the teacher actually provides for the classroom. If you are looking for an organization to donate to consider DonorsChoose.org. Public school teachers across the country post specific requests to support their classroom projects, ranging from pencils for a poetry writing unit, to violins for a school recital, to microscope slides for a biology class. Visitors to the website decide which project they would like to support and DonorsChoose.org delivers materials to the school once a project reaches its funding goal.
Savings.com gave me a $25 code in order to try Donors Choose myself. I went up to projects and searched by state. I wanted to find a project in Virginia. I then saw that I could search by county. There was one project listed in my county and it turns out to be at my son’s school! It took just a couple of minutes to enter my name, email address, the code and my message to the class.
Even better, Savings.com is helping make your money go further when you give back to a school in need in the new year! Use the gift code “SAVINGS” any time between January 27th and February 24th on www.donorschoose.org/savings, and Donors Choose will match your donation up to $100.
Also, if you are a teacher, make sure to signup for a teacher account at Donors Choose and list your classroom project! I would love to see more projects in my county listed!
