Yellow Tail Shiraz Cabernet

This week for Thirsty Thursday we are going down under with a tasty red wine from Australia. [Yellow Tail] makes a wide variety of wines and today I am going to tell you about their Shiraz Cabernet blend.

I first tried this wine a few years ago while visiting my brother. I went grocery shopping with him and he mentioned he needed to pick up a particular wine for his wife. He couldn’t remember the name but knew it was cheap with a purple label! The mystery wine was the [Yellow Tail] Shiraz Cabernet.

The vintage I am taste testing is the 2009 variety which is 80% Shiraz and 20% Cabernet. It is a fruity dry wine with plum and blackberry flavors. Personally I taste more plum. I love the warmth of this wine- perfect for a cold night. It does contain 13.5% alcohol so make sure you have food in you!

The best thing about [Yellow Tail] Shiraz Cabernet is the price- it is available for $6.99.

If you prefer a white wine, check out my review last week of Our Dog Blue. Head on over to Kansas City Mamas to check out other Thirsty Thursday cheap wines.

  1. Yellow Tail was one of the first wines I got “into” when I started drinking wine. Love that it made your list.

  2. Like the wine reviews although I do not drink it … It is nice to know what to bring to people’s houses
