Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. While it is wonderful to give your loved ones gifts, you don’t have to break the bank to do so! Here are some inexpensive ideas to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
- Cook dinner instead of going out to eat. When hubby and I first started dating, we went out to dinner on Valentine’s Day. The restaurant we wanted to go to did not accept reservations. We ended up waiting a good hour to be seated- not a good thing! Since that date, we decided that going out on a Holiday to eat was not much fun. I like to cook so I make a nice meal at home- usually seafood or steak since that is hubby’s favorite. There is a free Valentine’s Day Recipe eCookbook available for ideas.
- If you do want to go out to eat, consider going out to lunch instead of dinner. Lunch entrees are cheaper and the restaurants will be less crowded.
- Write a love letter. Instead of spending money on a gift, write your loved one a heart felt letter.
- Cherish memories with a photo collage. This is another inexpensive idea for a gift. Print out pictures from the last year and make a photo book or collage.
- Give a movie gift. Right now there are several movie coupons available at Coupons.com. Print out a coupon, buy a DVD and wrap it up with a box of chocolates. Have dinner and a movie at home!
- Give a coupon book for household chores. This idea has been around for ages, but it is still very useful. Make a book of coupons for things like: No Cook Dinner Night, Free Laundry Pass, One Day Free of Kids, Dishwashing Pass or Free Car Wash.
- Instead of buying cut flowers, buy a living plant or potted flowers. The potted flowers will last so much longer giving more for your money! If you do need to send cut flowers, ProFlowers has a $19.99 offer.
- If you have a coffee lover, consider buying a Starbucks Gift Card or a Gevalia subscription. If you get a Starbucks gift card, remember to register for Starbucks rewards to earn free products! Gevalia is currently offering a coffee maker, 4 boxes of coffee and a travel mug for $19.99 (just remember to cancel your membership after you get your order!).
