30-Day Giving Challenge

Here we are entering the month November- the month of giving. For the last couple of years each November I have participated in the 30 Day Giving Challenge. The goal is to give in some capacity each day in the month of November. There are so many ways to give that won’t cost you a penny! The goal is to share ideas on how you can give to someone or something. Giving doesn’t have to be on a gigantic scale- sometimes the littlest gift means the most.

Each Tuesday in November I will write a post about different ways we are giving that week. Hopefully these ideas will inspire you to give as well.

For me the hardest thing to give is time. I don’t have a spare minute in my day most of the time. This week I have a goal to give time for:

  • A call to my Grandpa just to chat.
  • Drop donations off for the food bank. The Kroger Mega Event and Harris Teeter Super Double coupons are great events to collect items for donation.
  • Mommy and Me time with Mr. B. Being the youngest, he doesn’t get a lot of one on one time where he has my full attention.
  • A lunch date with a friend who is having a rough time.
  • Share my freebies with my co-workers. Time to clean out!
  • Start collecting Box Tops for Education for Capt. M’s school.

I would love for you to join me in the 30 Day Giving Challenge! What are your ideas for giving?

I love giving! And I’m sure to enjoy all the ways others will give of their time and resources! I try to give all year long! However, a few “things” I will be giving this month are…..1) Neglected items to the Union Mission (a bag is ready to go now) 2) Chili & Cookies to the local fire department 3) Mailbox Magazine Teacher Resources to a local elementary school (I’ve had the honor of getting published 30 times so my gifts have been teacher books….enough to share!) 4) My current catalogs & magazines to my cleaning ladies. 5) My BoxTops to my cleaning lady’s daughter for her classroom 6) Shoeboxes to Operation Christmas Child 7) Coffee time with my cousin who lives a couple of hours away (8) Unused coupons to a friend who is new to coupons & the rest to military families (9) Baby item coupons to friends/family with babies AND more………I may just jot down my giving and just see if I can count 30 in one day! THANKS for the challenge!

  5. I love this idea…30 day Giving Challenge. My heart is filled with the volunteering I’ve been doing. I volunteer for a non-profit organization making hand crafted stained glass guardian Angels for the families of fallen military, law enforcement, Firefighters and to cancer survivors. the website is: http://www.angelsoflove.org. The Angels are never sold, they are always freely given, it is a random act of kindness and it has done so much for me to touch someone with these Angels. We plan to visit some of our local hospitals, including the Veteran’s hospital, the City of hope and St. Joseph’s hospital during our upcoming holiday season. Giving is a good thing. God Bless all of you for reaching out and giving back.

    • Hi Ernestine,
Thank you so much for sharing Angels of Love. They are beautiful! I am sure you have touched so many lives! I will list this site in my 30 Day Giving roundup next week as I see they are in need of funds. I know of a special little girl fighting for her life against cancer. I pray that someday Angels of Love will have enough funds and manpower to reach children outside of California!

  2. […] Last week reader Ernestine shared with us her volunteer work with Angels of Love. She volunteers to make beautiful guardian angels for children with cancer, families of fallen military personnel who have died in the line duty or to families of policeman or firefighters who died in the line of duty. Angels of Love has a limited budget and unfortunately has had to make cutbacks on who they make these beautiful angels for. If you are looking for a place to make monetary donations, consider Angels of Love. […]
