Many of us never think twice about turning on the faucet and getting clean water. Water is a necessity for sustainable water. Did you know that 748 million people lack access to clean water? The United Nations General Assembly declared March 22 as World Water Day in 1993 in order to address the water crisis.
Here is a humbling fact for you: The time North American women spend shopping daily equals the time many women devote to collecting water each day – nearly 200 million hours!* I can’t imagine spending my day in search of clean water. World Vision is focusing on spreading the word about the need for clean water. To find out more on how you can help spread the word about the water crisis, checkout the World Vision YouTube video.
Many people living in developing countries collect rain water as their source of water. Think about that during Spring showers. What we may see as a nuisance interrupting our outdoor plans, many other people find it essential for life. World Vision suggests using an umbrella to serve as a reminder that rainwater is considered a precious resource for people that lack established water systems.

You are right. We take for granted that we can turn on a tap and get clean water. I can’t imagine having to search for clean water. Thanks for sharing this post.
