This week for our Try Something New challenge I picked up a Sprite Melon. I have seen these small melons in the store before but never tried one. Since Capt. M and Mr. B love fruit, it seemed like a good choice. Currently Kroger has Sprite Melons for $1.
The Sprite Melon has an off-white skin and a white center fruit. The inside contains seeds just like a honeydew or cantaloupe melon. This is a very small melon perfect for snacking coming in around 5″ in diameter.
The Sprite Melon is very sweet and juicy. It tastes like a cross between a honeydew and pear but sweeter. It is a perfect dessert fruit. As hubby would say, “It’s nature’s candy!”.

This is the first that I have heard of this melon. We love trying new melons. The very first time I see this one, I am going to buy one.
