Kroger Lower Prices

It’s been just over a month now that Kroger stopped doubling coupons in the Mid-Atlantic region. I wanted to give you my perspective on this change and how my shopping has changed.

The Cons:

  • Of course the no double coupons is a huge con! It has been hard for my brain to adjust when I see a $0.50 off coupon, I first think $1 off. I am retraining myself! I have cut back on using paper coupons in the last year primarily since we have cut out a lot of processed foods. However, during the mega events, I really miss the double coupons. There are several stockup items this week that would be great if we still had double coupons.
  • My local Kroger said they would be focusing more on customer service with the new changes. Unfortunately, I have had very poor service that last few visits. They have a huge cashier shortage! One evening they didn’t have a regular line open- only the 15 and under line. The line was 5 deep too and I had a cart full. Sorry people behind me but I had no choice!

The Pros:

  • I am enjoying the lower produce prices. While I have not noticed regular grocery prices being extraordinarily low, I have noticed the produce. Since we eat a lot of produce, this is a huge bonus for us.
  • I cut out less coupons. Since I don’t have to worry about coupons doubling, I have switched to more digital coupons. Previously I rarely used a digital coupon since they don’t double. However, now it is easier to use a digital coupon instead of cutting and organizing paper coupons.
  • More free offers. It seems like Kroger has been very good about offer a digital coupon for a free product each Friday. Even if you don’t use those items, they are great for donations!

What do you think about the changes at Kroger? Are you seeing a difference in your grocery bill? I would love to know your thoughts!
