Decoupage Jar Lid

A few weeks ago I purchased these jars of fruit. After the boys ate the fruit I thought the jars where too cute to throwaway. A little decorative tissue paper and some Mod Podge and the jar is transformed!

What you need:

Glass jar with a screw on lid
Printed paper (use tissue paper or a thicker paper)
Mod Podge (or generic decoupage glue)
Sponge applicator
Acrylic spray

glass jar

Wash the glass jar with hot soapy water and remove all of the labels. Let the lid dry completely. Tear the decorative paper into pieces. Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge to the top of the lid. Place pieces of paper on top of the glue overlapping the pieces of paper. Wrap the paper around the edge of the lid to cover the whole surface. Apply a layer of Mod Podge over the top of the paper. Let dry and then apply another coat of Mod Podge.

Set aside and let the Mod Podge dry. When the glue is completely dry, apply a coat of the acrylic spray. This just seals the Mod Podge glue.

Jar Lid

Use the jars to hold spices, give gifts like Hot Cocoa Mix, store small items like buttons or paper clips. Really the possibilities are endless!
